About The Project
Division 15 was awarded two contracts for this extensive development. We also completed several projects that make up the surrounding District Energy infrastructure. It was a rewarding experience for our team to have such an impact on the region through our work.
This project included the installation of an Energy Plant on the fifth level of a parking complex and the Energy Transfer Station (ETS) at the building water entry room that ties into the Alexandra District Energy Utility. Our construction method utilized extensive 3D BIM modeling and off-site fabrication which was completed concurrently with the erection of the structure in order to expedite the project delivery date.
We expedited the project delivery date by using our in-house BIM team and prefabrication.
The project scope also consisted of the installation of below grade and above grade distribution piping, connecting mechanical rooms on the East and West Parcels of the Garden City Development.
The primary source for heating and cooling is the six-module air source heat pump, with backup heating provided by three gas fired boilers. The district energy utility supplies a combination of 94 air handling and fan coil units between three buildings, with connections for future expansion.
Prior to this phase of project work, we collaborated with architects Chandler Associates and mechanical consultants S+A Falcon Engineering Ltd. on 171, 481 sq. ft. of new construction for retail space. Our scope included connecting the HVAC systems to a central District Energy Plant within the main building.
