About The Project
This six-storey building was the first major addition to the SFU Surrey campus and is now home to the first dedicated undergraduate energy engineering program in Western Canada. This design assist project leveraged our in-house Building Information Modeling (BIM) team to ensure seamless execution with the other disciplines. The project is targeting LEED® Gold certification which includes an efficiency and sustainability focused design complete with connection to the City of Surrey’s District Energy System.
The project consisted of fire protection, controls, plumbing systems including a completely stainless-steel domestic water distribution system and HVAC systems including AHU’s, VAV’s, fan coils, building perimeter heaters and radiant floor heating on the ground level.
To facilitate the engineering program, the building was outfitted with a dedicated Lab HVAC/plumbing system including dedicated stainless-steel lab exhaust with Aircuity® lab air monitoring, hydrogen, compressed air and process chilled piping, and non-potable eye-wash and emergency shower stations.
