About The Project
This new 4600 sq. ft. subterranean power plant will replace the existing plant constructed in 1977, to service the entire Lions Gate Hospital complex. The project consists of two new 3000 kW steam generating boilers, two new 2500 kW steam generating boilers, and two new 2500kW heating water generating boilers. The steam boilers and plant piping are to be fully provisioned for field converted to hot water boilers as the complex undergoes its steam orphanage goals.
3D laser scanning of existing tunnels and mechanical rooms allow for 100% mechanical BIM and extensive off-site prefabrication.
Divisions 15's scope also includes a triplex of architecturally aesthetic exhaust flues rising 125’ above grade, new medical oxygen, nitrous oxide, medical vacuum, medical compressed air plant, and general compressed air plants.
Extensive service tunnel piping was required to connect the new plant equipment to the existing piping distribution network.
Two new water to water Energy Transfer Stations (ETS) in the terminal building mechanical rooms will replace existing steam to hot water ETS.
3D laser scanning of existing tunnels and mechanical rooms will allow for 100% mechanical BIM and extensive off-site prefabrication. This will result in significantly reduced site impact on the fully functional hospital.
Other features include new plant controls fully integrated into the existing complex and complete plant switch-over to make way for the new acute care tower that is currently under design.
