About The Project
This 149,000 sq. ft. retail space (Guildford Town Centre) included a large underground piping component, which was installed at the height of the rainy season in B.C., providing many logistical challenges. The Walmart store was one of the first in Canada to contain a central HVAC plant as opposed to the traditional rooftop unit designed for big box stores.
The Guildford Town Centre project consisted of conventional HVAC and plumbing systems which included cooling tower, chiller, boilers and heat pumps.
The Walmart HVAC system incorporated low loss headers as well as pressure differential control to facilitate more efficient transfer of energy throughout the heating and cooling systems. A Novar Controls system was installed that tied into the owner’s national HVAC controls and reporting system.
