About The Project
This LEED Platinum® project earned Division 15 the 2010 VRCA Silver Award of Excellence. The project consisted of 45,000 sq. ft. of new construction, including a community centre with gymnasium, daycare and restaurant. Division 15 provided advanced mechanical solutions that included an HVAC system using solar energy for both heating and cooling (using an absorption chiller).
The system connects to the neighbourhood Energy Utility (NEU) and is able to transfer energy (deliver or receive) as required. Heating and cooling is primarily achieved through an extensive radiant system (in slab) and supplemented by an advanced variable refrigeration system (VRF). The mechanical work also included an elaborate rain water collection and distribution system, for irrigation and toilet flushing.
